My friend J emailed this to me a while back. Not sure if it’s true or not but I think it’s kind of neat!

Uhm yes please to this doorbell for my future home.

And if I didn’t find it necessary to cover my phone with a large tire posing as a protective phone case, I’d be all over this little baby:

Have a great Wednesday, everyone! And don’t forget, today is the last day to save 20% on the shop with coupon code CYBERTOOTHTIGER!

Fair bags!

Two weeks ago when I did that craft fair in Orleans I realized I needed bags to put my bags in because people like to buy things and then put them into bags.

I realized this when a woman bought one and said, “That’s ok. I don’t need a bag for this.”

And I said, “Oh good because I don’t have any!”

She kind of gave me a funny look and I had to reflect on what I said / think about how to get my hands on some bags, man! After some serious thought, I realized my only option would be to make my own (obvi should not have required serious thought).

I used StazOn ink because it stays on everything, my Tragic Whale Stamp (crafted from another stamp), the whale stamp Ryan got me, and a pack of plain bags (Michael’s, $6.99).

Stamped one bag. Loved it.

Repeated 13 times. Splayed them out all over my floor to dry.

Took a close up shot because I think it’s super cute.

And now I’m set! This Saturday while I’m pushing my wares in Yarmouth I’ll confidently be able to ask, “Would you like a bag for that?”

Weekend projects & Cyber Monday

I spent the last week or so working on some new projects and new items for the shop. I also had some outstanding projects due to friends and family I wanted to get done so naturally those fell by the wayside. Again.

I think what we’ve learned time and time again is not to ask me to do things. Because, although I’ll do it, it will probably take a year.

Here’s the laptop bag I made for my friend, Claire. The laptop is hiding inside, and then I put a front pocket on for other things. She put some notebooks in it! There’s McFly (her dog) sniffing it out in the background, aha.

And here’s the start of a new project: a wallet. I know how I want it to look and I have patterns for all the pieces. I just can’t figure out how to put it all together yet. But we’ll get there.

And don’t forget it’s Cyber Monday! Use coupon code CYBERTOOTHTIGER to save 20% off your order in the Tragic Whale Shop today through Wednesday :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Partly inspired by Brittany over at Shubette Handmade’s Week of Thanks series, I thought I would share some things that I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving :)

Are you ready for some serious Etsy love? Good, me too!

I’m absolutely in love with this beautiful print:

Tiposcreations has an amazing collection of sea life jewelry. These are my (obvious) favorites:

This zipper pouch makes me wish I was into screen printing. But with so many craft interests already (and so little room left in my room) I think it’s best not to take up another hobby and just admire this bag!

Tree dream.

New clutches

I’ve got some new clutches in the shop. They’re bigger and fancier than ever!

Well, kind of. I took my “basic clutch” pattern, stripped off the handle, made it bigger, and used satin fabric to give them all a nice (fancy) sheen!

Comfortably fits your wallet, phone, keys, and tissues (it’s cold season, people):

Fun new prints to keep it fresh:

And I used heavy interfacing to keep ’em nice and sturdy. This part is hard to illustrate in a picture.

Check them out!

Prepping for another craft fair :)

Peter and I are doing another craft fair tomorrow at the Orleans Elementary School (9 am to 3 pm if you’re in the area!) and I’ve spent the better part of the week sewing in preparation for it. But I also…

Bought a studio-style light to take better pictures when I don’t have a chance to get outside and catch that natural light!

Updated my shop with new inventory so the things I’m selling at the craft fair correspond with what I’m selling in my shop.

Ordered, and received, my Palpal Here! Now I can take debit and credit cards, which will open my shop up to all those people who didn’t bring cash to a craft fair.

I’ve also been working on a sign but I have a sneaking suspicion that it won’t be ready in time. Maybe for the next one!
